Firstly, please check with the receptionists that you live in our catchment area; this is approximately a 5 mile radius around the surgery. If you live outside our area, you may still be able to register with us, but you will not be eligible for home visits.
The Receptionist will give each new patient a pack of forms to fill in, including a form which is sent off to the Health Authority requesting your full UK medical history from your previous surgery.
As soon as these forms are filled in and the data is entered on to our computer, you are able to see any of the medical staff in the Practice.
Please Note: You can make an appointment before you fill in these forms, but we need to have you registered onto our computer system before you see a member of our medical staff. If you are registering on the day of your appointment, please arrive at least 10 minutes early.
Ideally, you will have two forms of ID with you when registering: for example, your passport, driving licence together with a utility bill showing your current address.
You will be registered with a named doctor. However, you may choose which doctor you see for routine appointments, and you do not have to see the same doctor every time. All doctors have access to your whole medical history. If you need to see a doctor urgently, you may not be able to choose who you see.
All patients who live in our catchment area will be registered as dispensing patients and will be able to collect all medication from the surgery. If you live outside our area, you will only be registered as dispensing if you live more than 1 mile, as the crow flies, from a community pharmacy (chemist).
NHS England requires practices to utilise the GP2GP facility for the transfer of patient records between practices when a patient registers or de-registers (not for temporary registration). When you move to a new GP Practice, your medical records will be removed from your previous doctor and forwarded on to your new GP via NHS England. It can take your paper records up to two weeks to reach your new surgery.
With GP2GP record transfers your electronic record is transferred to your new practice much sooner.

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary patient for up to 3 months or permanent patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with this practice.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
