YOUNG PEOPLE
We would like to think we are as friendly as possible to young people. We do realise that the practice can often seem a difficult place to deal with but we are here to help. Conversations that you have with us are confidential, that means we do not discuss them with other people.
You do NOT have to tell the Receptionist why you need to see the doctor.
If you need to fit in around school times then we will do our best. If you think you need emergency contraception (the ?morning after? pill): You simply contact the surgery and ask for an URGENT APPOINTMENT. You DON?T have to explain why. If it is a weekend, contact your local pharmacy as some pharmacies also provide this service.
We have recently become a C Card outlet - this means that if you are aged 24 or below you are entitled to free condoms/sexual
protective aids. You can collect these here from the surgery.
Also, tell us what you would like to have information about on this section of the web site, use the contact us form and write to Diane the Practice Manager.
HPV Update: Catch-up programme
 |
Human
Papilloma Virus Vaccine
(commonly known as the HPV
vaccine). A national
campaign to provide young
women with protection
against HPV strain 16 and 18 was
announced by the Department
of Health in May 2008
through the provision of an
HPV vaccination. |
The surgery is now going to be completing the vaccine programme for those who were eligible for it within the last year. IE. last years YEAR 8.
The government has agreed to accelerate the programme and this coming year girls aged between 13-17 will be offered the vaccine.
If you received a letter inviting you to have the vaccines here at the surgery you can still phone up and book an appointment with the nurse.
